Ex-Bee writers break down 49ers-Packers for ex-Bee editor

David White at Bulldog Stadium in 2005.

It’ll soon be kickoff time at Candlestick for the anticipated 49ers-Packers NFC Divisional Playoff game.

And you’ve probably already read just about every snippet of information about said game, from David Akers and Billy Cundiff to Colin Kaepernick and Aaron Rodgers.

But you haven’t heard about the 49ers-Packers from former Bee scribes … until now.

Former Bee writers David White and John Branch — both of whom went on to cover the NFL after their Bee careers — shared their insights about the football teams and their fans with former Bee sports and metro editor Robert Zizzo, now at the Green Bay Press Gazette.

John Branch takes a turn as mascot of the Grizzlies in 2005.

You can read the entire post here, but here are their predictions:

White, who covered the Raiders and the 49ers for the San Francisco Chronicle before leaving the paper in 2011 to become a pastor in Porterville: Packers by eight.

Branch, who’s been at the New York Times since 2005 and covered the NY Giants’ 2007 championship season: Packers, 24-20.
